My Zen coffee ceremony

In Ethiopia where coffee was said to have been discovered by a farmer tending his land, coffee preparation just like Macha green tea in the Zen tradition is prepared and drank ceremonially.

In the Coptic Christian tradition practiced by the monks of Mt Athos coffee is called story telling medicine.

I love my morning coffee, but to me even this is a chance to meditate on this beautiful medicine, where I sing mantras as I grind the beans, heat the water slowly and then take time to drink it mindfully.

Life gives us so many amazing chances to show the type of gratitude and appreciation which helps us become happier and more peaceful beings.

When we learn how to slow down and notice the sacredness in all the things we may otherwise miss or take for granted.

Finding the divine in the every day

This coffee shop in New Brighton is one of my favourite meditation halls, it’s where I love to commune with divinity after it opens in the early hours. So many of us are waiting for that big kundalini

The sun on your face, the rain on your skin

Some days, months or even years for me can seem like an eternal sunshine, I’m in flow, things just fall into place. Perhaps you have these times too where you are surrounded by joy, it feels like you
